The department is established after the comprehensive business survey carried out in 1995 with the support of the ILO. It covers more than 35,000 establishments in five private sectors which are :
  1. Trade
  2. Industry
  3. Agriculture
  4. Service
  5. Construction
The deparments objectives are summarized in the following points:
  1. Provision of information about the private sectors either from the data base of the survey or from membership data from the chambers.
  2. Take care of the needs of the information departments in the federation and the chambers.
  3. Publishing the first Palestinian Business Directory(PDB) in 1996 as a result of the comprehensive survey carried out by the federation & the chambers of commerce with the support of the ILO project.
  4. Hold training courses and workshops together with the vocational training department of the federation.These training courses are held to improve the skills of all chambers employees, in addition to the specialized courses for the computer depatments'employees of the chambers.Most of these courses are held with the support of the Joint Palestinian - German Project.
  5. Take care of the Information system finaced partially by the DAI.
  6. Establishing the Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture web site ; that is supported financially & technically by the German project.
  7. Support the other departments with the information needed for different purposes.
  8. Provision of either National or International establishment with the information needed and lists of enterprises in such activity or field of work.
  9. Prepare data & information for other departments to inrich their studies especially for those conferences held outside Palestine in the field of SMEs.
  10. Upgrade both software & hardware for the department.
