Agriculture Situation:

The District of Qalqilia depends to a great extent on agriculture, so the Chamber of commerce helped in settling agricultural roads, repairing water wells, accrediting certificate of origin for exported products, which were exposed to a hard quake as a result of the Gulf War. Farmers started looking for new and alternative markets, the Arab Israeli markets. The needs of Qalqilia district for agriculture situation are as follows:

  1. Establishing, paving and enlarging agricultural roads.
  2. Establishing factories to take advantage of what exceeds the needs such as dairy, juice and tins.
  3. Establishing a Palestinian national company specialized in marketing the products at local and international levels and solving the problems, which prevent the export process.
  4. Establishing a National Insurance credit to support farmers and set a minimum price limit for the agricultural products and compensate their loss.
  5. Establishing an agricultural bank without interests to develop farming and attracting new projects.
  6. Economic protection system against unfair and unequal competition with Israeli products.
  7. Reopening and supporting citrus fruit waxing factory, which was closed as a result of the Israeli competition.
  8. Helping in boring new wells of water and repairing existent ones.
  9. Preventing Israeli Authorities from land confiscation so as to enlarge their settlements and establishing winding (By-Pass) roads, which threaten of confiscating thousands of donums from the Western side.
