Activities
Since the first day of its mandate, the present council started working to attain the general aims of the Chamber and to tackle the problems of both commercial and industrial sectors in Nablus. Before the Palestinian Authority took over the responsibility, the Chamber went through a struggle and severe suffering with the occupying authority in order to overcome the obstacles and the difficulties these two sectors faced. The Chamber also participated in solving many social problems in Nablus through cooperation with different institutions and citizens.
The most important achievements of the Chamber have been :-

Renovation of the chamber's office, by supplying it with the newest office equipment and machines necessary to enable it carry its work, such as computers, fax machine, copying machine etc., and connecting it to Internet. In addition to establishing a commercial library. Also provided Thafer El-Masri's Hall in the chamber building with the necessary meeting equipment.
- A piece of land in Nablus has been bought in order to build a commercial tower on it which will be convenient to match with the future developing of the city, being the commercial capital of Palestine.
- Carried an industrial survey in Nablus in the year 1993, to prepare data bases to be used by planners, researchers, and expected investors in drawing future policies.
- Prepared studies for a trade and conference site in Nablus where local and foreign products can be exhibited, and conferences to be held, taking in consideration that Nablus Chamber is a member of the Mediterranean Trade Fairs Association.
- The idea of establishing an industrial town in Nablus came out from the council of the Chamber when a resolution regarding this project was taken on 27/6/1992, after which the Chamber contacted the occupying authority to have this idea materialized. Still the chamber is working to have this project implemented.
- Prepared in cooperation with Al-Najah University, a sketch of a study to establish Palestinian measures and standards control center. This was approved by the authority in 1/9/1992, and an office for the center was rented in 11/2/1995, after which it was staffed and started working.
- Defended the interests of economic private sectors before official departments.
- Concluded an agreement between Ministry of Education, the Chamber and the German institution LIB for training at the vocational secondary school in Nablus. In which LIB undertook to supply the school workshops with the necessary new machines and equipment for training. The school became an excellent vocational training center.
- Partook in the formation of a friends of cancer patients society in Nablus.
- Received many Europeans, Americans and of other different nationalities who listened to explanation and information about prevailing economic situation and Palestinian people suffering. Meetings are held between local businessmen and others from different foreign countries.
- Provided training opportunities for industrialists in Nablus by holding a number of local training workshops and by sending delegates abroad for training.
- A number of twinning agreements were signed with commercial and industrial chambers in Arab and foreign countries, out of which are (Amman Chamber of Commerce, Amman Chamber of Industry, Stavenger Chamber of Trade in Norway, Dundy Chamber of Trade and Industry in Scotland, and Napoli Chamber of Trade and Industry in Italy). Other relations with foreign and international institutions have already been set.
