Infrastructure and Medical Services in the Governorate of Jericho:
  1. The Sewage Network: Due to the Israeli occupation (1967-1994) and its intentionally negligence, there is no sewage network at present. Instead every family has got an absorption hole for that purpose. However, the garbage is collected from living quarters and public institutions by the municipal sanitation staff.
    It should be mentioned that the Municipality of Jericho under the auspices of the Palestinian National Authority and with the cooperation of the donor countries prepared the necessary plans for the sewage network for all the Governarote of Jericho, the Mayor has signed an agreement with the German government to sponsor this very project.

  2. The Telephone Service: Jericho has got a telecommunication center containing 5000 lines, though the number of participants is 1770 citizen.

  3. Electricity: The town of Jericho is part of the mandate of the Jerusalem Governorate Electricity Company. The consumers are almost four thousand. The network needs rehabilitation to cope with the ever-increasing demand. That will cost 2188400 U.S dollars.

  4. Health Institutions: There is a government hospital in the town having 54 beds. The Governorate, however, has got 14 medical centers and clinics four of them are governmental while the remaining ten are non-governmental. In addition, there are a number of private clinics.
    The Governorate of Jericho includes of the following villages: (Duek, Nueemeh, Auja, Fasail, Jeftlik, Zbeadat, Marj Ghazal and Marj Naajeh).
