GAZA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Palestinian chamber of commerce of Gaza Governorates was established in 1954, by the governor of Gaza at the time of Egyptian Administration of Gaza Strip. The board of directors composed of 16 elected members headed by Chamber Chairman Mr. Mohammed S. Al- Qudwa , was elected in the last elections of 1991 . The chamber with it’s 20 employees is representing and serving the chambers 9550 members of three main economic sectors , Commerce , Industry ,& Agriculture . The Gaza chamber of commerce ,industry, and agriculture is considered the biggest among Palestinian chambers of commerce .

The chamber of commerce of Gaza has linkages with several regional and international organizations and associations . The Gaza chamber is a member of the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce ,Industry and Agriculture (FPCCIA) . The federation is the representative of all Palestinian Chambers of commerce and a member of the general secretary of the Association of Arab chambers of commerce . The Gaza chamber is also a member of the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry “ ASCAME ” . The Gaza chamber also has good linkages with several international organizations and institutions . The Gaza Chamber has a strong and distinguished relations with the International Labor Organization ILO, German CDG institute and all embassies , Commercial consulates and representatives of EU and UN agencies . The chamber could help its members through arranging participation in training courses and trade missions with cooperation with these linkages .

The main role of the chamber of commerce of Gaza is to issue certificates of origin in addition to representing the interests of its members . The chamber is also the main source of information for its members and for the PNA and other foreign partners who needs information about the Palestinian economy ,and the private sector’s activity in the Gaza strip. The Gaza chamber of commerce is also authorized to issue the certificate of origin and ERU1 form that are required for the exportation of Palestinian Agricultural products. Training is also one of the functions and roles the chamber used to play and organize for members both locally and internationally. Trade promotion and organizing trade missions is another part of the chambers activities .The chamber is also participating in community activities and support by financing and organizing social and relief works for the community in general The chamber helped in fields of community health, cultural activities, and other social activities .

The Gaza chamber of commerce is funding its activities through the fees collected from membership fees and the fees of issuing certificates for export or other kind of certificates. There is other sources of donations and joint projects with other international institutions .
